Upload a document, get a working app: HeroMate's material-to-app pipeline
Every AI app builder asks you to describe what you want. Some also take a Figma file or a GitHub repo. What almost none of them ask for is the thing most people actually have sitting on their desktop before they ever open a prompt box: a spec document, a pricing sheet, a product catalog export, a folder of photos. HeroMate does — and it's been live for a while without much noise made about it.
What it actually does
When you create a new project in HeroMate, the prompt box takes attachments alongside your description — PDFs, Word docs, spreadsheets (CSV, XLS), images, even presentation files. You're not limited to typing everything out by hand: if the information already exists in a document, you attach it, describe what you want built from it, and the agent that generates your first version reads the attachment as part of that first build, not as a separate step you do afterward.
The same thing works mid-project too — the Studio chat you keep talking to after the initial build accepts the same kind of attachments if you need to hand it a new material later (an updated spec, a new product list) instead of re-typing the changes.
Why this is a real gap, not a nice-to-have
Look at what the major prompt-to-app tools actually accept as input: text descriptions, a Figma import, a GitHub import. That covers "I can describe it" and "I already have the design" and "I already have the code" — but not "I already have the information, just not in a format meant for an AI coding agent to read." A restaurant's existing menu PDF, a clinic's current price list, an inventory spreadsheet, a client's brand brief — none of that maps cleanly to a text prompt or a Figma file, and re-typing it all into a chat box is exactly the kind of manual step an AI tool is supposed to remove.
